This short story attempts to capture the reality of ALS—the gradual loss of physical mobility—and the devotion of those who refuse to give up on them. I did my utmost to transform an otherwise cruel process, hoping to foster empathy in those who have never known this struggle, and to offer solace to those enduring the pain.
